Diseases in Women

Women suddenly find themselves confined to smaller spaces as work from home culture takes an all-time high post covid.
For some this means more quality time with the spouse, for others it could mean no personal space at all.
those used to pack boxes and having a few hours to themselves now find crunched for time while a lot can be written about the resulting woes…the scope of this article urges me to restrict it to diseases.

What ill-health has resulted in women due to this new social status? let us look at a few

  1. Depression / Anxiety
No personal space and increased work load at home can cause emotional turmoil.
  1. Eating Disorders.
With an ever-hungry working spouse at home and children itching to return to routine, a woman finds herself not tending to her own hunger.

This can lead to Bulimia, Anorexia nervosa, Binge eating and more.
common symptoms can range from obsession with ones weight to a total non-interest in health , the other extreme.

  1. Menstrual Complaints. / PCOD/PCOS
Dysmenorrhoea which is painful cramps during cycle., Menorrhagia which is heavy bleeding, Amenorrhea which is absence of cycle. Polycystic ovarian diseases are also primarily life style diseases
while these complaints are primarily hormonal but remember the seat of all lies in the Mind
  1. Diabetes Mellitus:
Improper self-care , not eating on time and other emotional issues can cause Glucose assimilation issues in our body. this can result in DM
    or
more commonly prediabetes in women. statistics show an increase in DM in Post covid times. Sometimes that irritability can well be the only presenting symptom.
  1. Hypothyroid
common symptoms can be an increase in weight, feeling low, and dry skin.
