Ginkgo improves cognitive function because it promotes good blood circulation in the brain. it is also useful for children with attention deficit/ hyperactivity disorder.
How It Works
Gingko is said to boost flow in the body. Through its main components, flavonoids, ginkgolides, and bilobalide, Gingko improves the circulation of oxygen-rich blood through the body and brain.
Gingko also blocks the excessive formation of clotting in blood vessels with gingkolide B, and keeps vessel walls intact and strong with the platelet-busting prostacyclin. These factors all combine to keep blood pumping to the tissues of the brain, promoting healthy growth of neural structures and connections.
To further this goal, Gingko protects the amounts of acetylcholine in the brain. This neurotransmitter is responsible for a healthy, highly adaptable mental environments, allowing for the easy formation of new memories and enhanced reasoning abilities.
